A look at the Halo 3 Weapons

Halotalk.com put together some info on the new weapons in Halo 3

As in any first person shooter, you can expect a great array of weapons to be at your disposal, and Halo 3 is no exception to that rule. Most of the weapons found in the first two Halo games will be back in Halo 3 in essentially the same form as before, but with small power changes and cosmetic differences.

Halo 3 will show us a new weapons class, called “support weapons”. These weapons are excessively large, two handed weapons. When using these weapons, the view changes from that of a first person shooter into a third person view.

Missile Pod
The missile pod is a weapon similar to the rocker launcher, although with some added benefits. A major advantage of this weapon is that the missiles track your target. This weapon can also hold a lot more ammunition compared to the standard rocket launcher, although comes with the disadvantage of your character being slow to move.

Spartan Laser
This weapon can kill any player or vehicle in one direct hit. Not only does it have the ability to kill anything with one hit, it also kills anything in its path, meaning if there is more than one enemy within its sights, multiple targets can be killed at once. The major issue with this weapon is the fact that it takes around three seconds to charge and then fire.

Turret Gun
The Halo game series has always had mounted weapons, and didn’t you always wish you could rip it off its mountings and bring it with you? Well, now you can rip it off its mountings, and bring it right along with you! Although you will walk slowly when carrying this gun, the rapid rate of fire should compensate.

As well as these new class of weapons in Halo 3, there of course is other weapons that will be at your disposal. These include:

>Brute Spiker – a gun that rapidly fires spikes at enemies
>Brute Mauler – dual shotgun
>Gravity Hammer – similar to the one that Tartarus had in Halo 2
>Spike Grenade – a “stickable” grenade that explodes in a shower of spikes
>Fire Bomb – incendiary grenade with a burning compound that attaches onto anything it touches.

And for those fans of the original Assault Rifle as seen in Halo, and which didn’t appear in Halo 2 should enjoy Halo 3 even more so. The Assault Rifle is back as the default weapon, although slightly different from Halo with its slower rate of fire but with greater accuracy and a longer range.
